There is no such thing as Americans, just people.
Are you not full of contradictions? half the globe has been manipulated by capitalism and turned on one another. The only immune are those so exploited that survival alone is there greatest concern.
@anonymous: while contradictions aren't limited to several countries, there is such a thing as americans. according to your logic there exist no cultures. if that was the case, then there were in fact only people. but in reality every country has its own lifestyle. if you don't believe me, then travel to africa for once in your life, or china, or japan, or russia. i've been to all these countries and people couldn't have differed more from each others. in case of americans, they don't even compare well to other western countries like britain, france or germany.
btw, your world view is very american and seems to be a direct projection of the opinions that are being broadcasted via american tv. in that regard, you seem to be an american cliche, which means that your whole way of debating disproves what you try to prove.

Lots of socities are full of contradicitions.
Of all the countries america is probably still the best although that might soon change when obama takes away all our freedom.
What other country do illegal immigrants get to march down the street and talk about their rights? What other country says you must educate the children of people living in your country illegally and should not even be here.
If you think america is bad on immigration you have no clue what other countries like russia or italy do to illegal immigrants.

the rest of the world hates america because of views such as that, it is also one of the youngest and worst coalition of states (or countries) on the planet due to its exploitative views and so called 'freedom'. Take gary mckinnon for example who 'accessed' poorly protected computers in search of, as he claims, 'aliens' and he is being brought in from overseas to be killed for it when he did no damage but also left notes on how to stop people getting in the way he did. Now a 'Country' as you call it that advertises freedom and justice but punishes people who try to use their right to information to learn new things because they would not be given them is not a very just nation. There are many better nations than america and almost all of them are poorer too and even countries in poverty seem to have better ethics and understandings of morality.

@ Anonomys (one on about immigrants) first and major point, by yourself being a American, you are a immigrant in any way shape or form you look upon that so you point sort of failed on that 1. other point is dnt slander country's like italy they are part of the EU, immigration is pretty legal in EU people from EU can live in other counhtry's, do some research and look at your family tree before insulting other nations, but i could just stereotypically say that by you being a american obviously you probably watch the propaganda you are fed, and have a fixed oppinion on everywhere..... do some reasearch, most countrys in europe have alot more rights for immigrants than youre "wonderful country".

Totally agrees with latest post! Just such a statement as "Of all countries America is still probably the best" is absolutely ridiculous! Stop watching TV and get out in the real world.... yes I'm talking about the place outside the US (like the EU where people don't talk about they're freedom all the time)! You'll be surprised!

American education is terrible, and it's the governments fault. Americans don't leave America, why? Because unlike other countries, Americans are taught that everything they need is available in America, and all other countries suck compared to America. America has no culture, and anyone in America who tries to bring a culture is persecuted against (1st irish, 2nd italian, 3rd latin). Check your dollar bills, and thank your freemason forefathers, that's the American way . .
